Rancho Tepe is a private ranch that has been in the family-owned for over 30 years. This countryside estate is only an hour and a half southeast of Mexico City. Rancho Tepe began as a small, but comfortable cottage on the side of a mountain near the mountain village of Tepecaculco. Through the years, the ranch has expanded to the impressive complex that exists today. Modern facilities individual bungalows, large indoor pool and activity room, intimate bar/parlor, formal dining room, courtyard kiosk, pavilion for parties/dining and a stable of registered Quarter horses brought from the United States.

The estate is brimming with brilliant flowers, green plants, tall pine and fir trees. Flaming red flowers cover the walls of the entry garden. Decorative clay pots, filled with assorted plants and flowers, adorn the cobblestone pathways and courtyards. Rancho Tepe is nestled amidst an avocado plantation with trees laden with luscious green gems. The ranch sits in the shadow of Mt. Popocatepetl, a dramatic snowcapped volcanic mountain looming to an altitude of almost 18,000 feet. Known as "smoking mountain," it last erupted in 1802.

Now small groups can enjoy the Rancho Tepe facilities that the family has so lovingly prepared. Guests can make themselves at home in the charming mountain cottages. Up to 14 guests can easily be accommodated with 7 bedrooms in the 3 guest cottages; 2 additional bunkhouses are available if needed for larger groups. Cottages have hot and cold running water, fireplaces, space heaters, living room or seating areas and two cottages have full kitchens.

Three meals per day are provided and are served in the outdoor dining pavilion or indoor formal dining area. After a hearty breakfast you can enjoy a day of horseback riding, biking or hiking on trails throughout the national park. Other excursions are available to the historical cities of Taxco, Cuernavaca, Cocoyok, Tlaxcala or Puebla.
